Other Fees
Library Charges
For items from the library’s main circulating collections, charges are 50 cents per day per item, and recalled item fines are $2 per day. If an item is lost or mutilated, the borrower is charged the estimated cost of the item plus a processing fee to cover acquisition and cataloging costs. Different fine rates may apply to other library collections, such as reserve collections.
Motor Vehicle Penalties
These are described in Traffic Rules and Regulations and Parking Guide given to students when a parking permit is purchased.
Property Damage Charges
Students will be charged for damage to property or equipment. Where responsibility for the damage can be fixed, the individual student will be billed for it; where responsibility cannot be fixed, the cost of repairing the damage will be pro-rated among the individuals involved.
Late Payment Fee
Students who fail to pay the balance due on their account are subject to an initial late fee of 5 percent of the outstanding balance or $10, whichever is greater. A 1.5 percent finance charge is assessed each month thereafter.
Service for Dishonored Check Fee
Payable for each check that is returned unpaid by the drawee bank on presentation because of insufficient funds, payment stopped, post-dating against uncollected items, etc.
$10 for checks up to $100
$25 for checks $100.01-$500
$50 for checks greater than $500

Notwithstanding any other provision of this or any other University publication, the University reserves the right to make changes in tuition, fees and other charges at any time such changes are deemed necessary by the University and the University System of Maryland Board of Regents. Although changes in tuition, fees and charges ordinarily will be announced in advance, the University reserves the right to make such changes without prior announcement.
