When to Pay

  • Upon acceptance to Freshmen First, you incur a financial obligation to the University of Maryland.
  • Failure to make payment by the deadline will result in a financial charge of 1.5% per month and may result in cancellation of your registration.
  • The condensed nature of Summer Term affects mailed invoices from being received in a timely manner.
  • Summer Term billing reminders with payment deadlines are sent to the e-mail address of record.
  • It is your responsibility to keep your contact information up to date. Please click here to update your information.

Electronic Billing

Paper bills are NOT mailed. Students receive their monthly bill electronically. You must register to receive your electronic billing statements.

In Person Financial Service Center, 1115 Lee Building. Payment may be made by cash, check, money order, or credit card. The office is open Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Tuition Remission

Tuition remission is available for students who are eligible. For information about tuition remission, please click here.

Cancellation of Program Enrollment

Students who enroll in Freshmen First and later decide not to attend must cancel. Failure to cancel will result in a financial obligation to the University even though the student does not attend class. Please refer to the Academic & Financial Calendar for specific dates.

Cancellation Deadlines

July 24 Last day to cancel registration for either the Residential Course Package or the Commuter Course Package with a 100% refund minus the $150 non-refundable confirmation deposit. After this date, there is no refund of the housing/meal/course and program activity portion of the Residential Course Package or Commuter Course Package fee.
July 31 Last day to cancel course registration with a refund of 100% of tuition and mandatory fees only. After this date, students may only withdraw and only the tuition and mandatory fee is refunded on a prorated basis.

Cancellation of Courses by the University of Maryland

The University reserves the right to cancel courses due to insufficient enrollment, or for other reasons that it deems valid. Appropriate refunds will be made. In the event of cancellation, we will make every effort to notify you in a timely manner to ensure that your decision whether to remain in the program and elect to enroll in another course is made with sufficient consideration.

Withdrawal

Students may request a withdrawal from the University of Maryland’s Freshmen First Program once the program and classes begin. If you choose to withdraw from the program, a statement indicating such will be recorded on your final transcript. Withdrawal from the program becomes effective on the date that the request is filed. Withdrawal requests must be received in writing, reviewed, and approved by the Office of Extended Studies. A withdrawal statement and the effective date will be recorded on the student’s final transcript. Click here to access information on the University’s withdrawal policy.

Withdrawal Deadlines

August 7 Last day to withdraw with a 50% refund of tuition and mandatory fees. After this date, there is no refund of tuition and mandatory fees.
August 13 Last day to withdraw.

Please Note

If you choose to withdraw, a statement indicating the same will be recorded on your final transcript.

Refunds
