Parent Access to Student Records
The University of Maryland adheres to a policy of compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA, also known as the Buckley Amendment).
The University limits disclosure of personally identifiable information from educational records without the student’s prior consent.
Students can grant parents and/or legal guardians limited access to their student information.
Students must renew this request annually for the following:
- current course schedule
- mid-semester and final grades
- unofficial transcripts
- student account balance information
A student needs to visit the Parent Access site to grant access:
- Visit: www.my.umd.edu
- Select Academics&Testudo
- Select Parent Access link located at bottom of page
Once a student grants parental access, the parent may access this information through Testudo. Parents can either use the student’s University ID (UID) or Directory ID and a Parent PIN which is set by the student when parent permission is granted.
There are several web sites to obtain further information on FERPA:
